Masaman beef curry

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 4 cup(s) cream (coconut cream)
  • 1 kg beef, diced
  • 3 potatoes
  • 2 onions
  • 125 g peanuts
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp curry paste (Masaman)
  • 3 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 tbsp juice (tamarind juice, lemon juice)
  • 1 tbsp sugar

Working time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Kaeng Masaman Nua

Cook the beef in a large pot until almost tender and remove. Add the coconut cream, peeled and quartered potatoes, peanuts, salt, and peeled and halved onions to the pot and simmer for 20 minutes. Sauté the masaman curry paste in a little oil and add a ladleful of coconut cream from the pot. Stir until thickened. Add the curry mixture to the coconut cream. Add the fish sauce, tamarind juice, and sugar. Simmer for another 15 minutes. Finally, add the meat and let it simmer until warm.
