Medieval Porridge from Camp Kitchen

The perfect medieval porridge from camp kitchen recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

Basic ingredients

  • 1 liter Milk
  • 200 g Oatmeal mixed tenderly and robustly
  • 200 g Salt
  • 2 tbsp Honey

variable ingredients

  • 100 g Chopped almonds

or

  • 100 g Pitted dried plums
  • 100 g Linseed

also fits in

  • 100 g Dried grapes
  1. I cut the plums into four parts. Then bring the milk to the boil with a little salt and only then add the oat flakes and the remaining ingredients. Mix well!
  2. While stirring, cook the oat flakes until soft and allow the porridge to set.
  3. Porridge should not get dry, but rather have a creamy consistency. If in doubt, add a little more milk and stir.
  4. I let the porridge cool down a little while stirring and then mix in the honey. This is better for the honey as it loses all its good contents when it is cooked !!!
  5. I serve the porridge in the pot for breakfast while still warm, so my boys can have a full breakfast after a long night !!
  6. Duchesse_Alex wishes you good luck
