Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 400 g lentils, red
- 2 m.-sized onion(s)
- 5 tbsp oil
- 2 tbsp sauce (Berbere sauce)
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 cup of water
- salt and pepper

Ethiopian lentil dish
Brown the onions and garlic in oil, stirring constantly, until golden brown. Add a little water. Add the berbere sauce and stir for about 10 minutes. Add the lentils and 1 cup of water and let it cook. Season with salt and black pepper. Messir Wott can be eaten cold or warm with injera.
