Mugwort Tincture: Production and Use as a Remedy

Mugwort can be used as a tincture in various areas of application. How to prepare the tincture from the medicinal plant and for what purposes you can use it, you will learn in this article.

How to make mugwort tincture

To make a tincture from the medicinal plant, you need 65 percent alcohol, 200 g of fresh mugwort and a sealable jar.

  1. First remove the dirt from mugwort. For this you have to shake it gently.
  2. Now cut it into small pieces and put them in your bowl.
  3. Now fill the jar with enough alcohol to completely cover the mugwort and then close it.
  4. Then leave the jar in a warm place for about three weeks. Give it a quick shake twice a week.
  5. After three weeks you need to strain the tincture. You can use a fine-mesh sieve for this.
  6. After that, you can pour the finished tincture into dark bottles.

Mugwort: Application as a remedy

As a tincture, mugwort can be used for a variety of purposes. If you are unsure about the application, you should always consult your family doctor beforehand .

  • Mugwort is particularly suitable as a remedy for women. If you have irregular menstruation, you can take mugwort regularly to positively influence your cycle.
  • If you suffer from severe pain and cramps during your period, mugwort is particularly suitable for you because the tincture has a relaxing effect.
  • Because of this effect, you can also use the medicinal plant for gastrointestinal complaints. Here it helps to relieve cramps and constipation and counteracts nausea and flatulence.
  • If you want to take the tincture for the internal effect, it is recommended to take five drops twice a day.
  • If you have sore muscles and tension, you can rub the affected areas with a few drops of the tincture. Because here, too, the medicinal plant has a pain-relieving and anticonvulsant effect.
