Arabic paprika – walnut – paste, specialty from Damascus

Deseed and quarter the bell peppers, and place them in a high-pitched blender, chopping a small portion and setting them aside for garnish. Set aside about 12 particularly attractive walnut halves and add the remaining walnuts to the blender. Roughly crumble the rusk and add it to the blender along with the garlic, harissa, and olive oil. Blend everything into a smooth paste. Let it sit in the refrigerator for at least 20 minutes. Place on a plate and garnish with the walnut halves and chopped red bell pepper. Serve with flat Arabic bread or pita bread. Tip: If you like it even spicier, add 1-2 red chili peppers to the blender.
