Ingredients for 8 servings:

  • 8 m.-sized onion(s)
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp thyme, dried
  • 2 tbsp sherry
  • some salt and pepper, from the mill
  • n. B. Tomato sauce, approx. 250 ml, to taste
  • Marsala, approx. 2 tbsp

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour 20 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes

Onion in Cherry

Place the peeled onions, spices, and olive oil in an ovenproof dish and cover. Braise the onions at 190°C (top/bottom heat) for about 1 hour, until almost soft. Mix the tomato sauce (amount to your taste) and the Marsala wine together and pour over the onions. Braise the dish for about 20 minutes and serve warm.
