Nutritionist Names The Best Drinks in the Summer Heat

In summer, every third patient shows signs of dehydration, which reduces performance, reaction time, and even short-term memory. General practitioner and nutritionist Olga Bezugla told us what drinks are best to drink in the summer to help the body withstand high temperatures.

Drink No. 1 is water. In the summertime, one in three patients shows signs of dehydration: thirst, lack of appetite, heart palpitations, dry skin and mucous membranes, weakness, drowsiness, and darkened urine, Obozrevatel reports.

“If you notice these symptoms, then you need to get into the habit of drinking water all the time. After all, according to scientific data, even mild dehydration can reduce performance, attention, concentration, reaction time, and even short-term memory,” the expert warned.

Bezugla recommends drinking plain water, as it can perfectly quench your thirst. You can also use sparkling water, or flavored water with the addition of fruits, berries, or herbs to add flavor.

Iced tea – green, karkade, herbal tea without sugar and milk – is a great summertime tonic.

One of the best types of tea for the summer is green tea with ice. It contains a large number of catechins – the strongest antioxidant. At the same time, you should avoid tea with flavors. If you want a bright flavor, it is better to add natural fruits or berries to it.

“In general, it is recommended to limit the consumption of ‘liquid calories’ in the form of juices, smoothies, soda, tea, or coffee with sugar and cream as much as possible. In liquid form, calories have a worse effect on the body, and it is difficult for us to keep track of them. Such drinks add extra calories during the day, they quench thirst worse, and sometimes act on the contrary, stimulating the desire to drink them again,” the nutritionist said.
