- 350 g flour
- 175 ml water
- 20 g yeast
- 1 tsp salt and 3 tbsp olive oil
- n. B. Herbs (oregano, Italian herbs), dried
- some sugar
- 200 g sour cream
- 200 g sour cream
- 1 kg onion(s)
- 125 g diced bacon
- 1 egg(s)
- Salt, pepper, nutmeg, caraway, sugar
- 100 g cheese, grated (preferably Gouda or Edam)
Instructions
Working time approx. 40 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 40 minutes
Make a yeast dough from the listed ingredients. Knead it well and for a long time until it is nice and smooth. Let it rise for about an hour. During this time, peel the onions, halve them, and slice them into strips. Fry the ham cubes in a pan and fry them lightly. Add the onions and fry them, stirring occasionally. They may brown slightly. Season to taste with a little sugar and ground caraway seeds. Roll out the dough and place it on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Prick evenly with a fork. Let it rise again. In the meantime, make a glaze from the sour cream, egg, cheese, and spices by mixing everything together and seasoning well. Preheat the oven (190°C top and bottom heat). Spread the sour cream mixture over the yeast dough, then add the sautéed onions on top (if the sour cream mixture seems too runny, pour it onto the dough in reverse order to prevent it from spreading) and spread evenly. Bake for about 30 minutes.
