Black Forest layered dish

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 200 g sour cherries
  • 250 ml cherry juice
  • ½ tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp cherry brandy
  • 80 g ladyfingers
  • 100 ml cocoa powder, prepared with milk
  • 125 g cream cheese
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 75 ml whipped cream
  • 2 tbsp chocolate shavings

Instructions

Working time approx. 35 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

Pit the cherries. Bring the cherry juice to a boil. Mix the cornstarch with the kirsch and 4 tablespoons of water until smooth, stir into the juice, and bring back to a boil. Stir the cherry juice into the cherries and chill. Roughly chop the sponge fingers, divide between 4 glasses, and drizzle with the cocoa. Drain the quark and mix with the sugar, vanilla sugar, and lemon juice. Whip the cream until stiff and fold in. Spread the cherry compote (except for 4 tablespoons) over the sponge fingers. Pour the quark on top and garnish with the remaining compote and chocolate shavings.
