Onion cake without yeast

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 400 g flour
  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 14 tbsp oil
  • 160 ml water
  • 1,000 g vegetable onions
  • 30 slices of Kasseler cold cuts
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 40 g butter or margarine
  • 4 eggs
  • 250 g sour cream
  • ½ cup crème fraîche
  • 150 g Gouda, grated

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

In a bowl, mix the flour with a pinch of salt and the baking powder. Now slowly knead in the water and oil using the dough hook of a hand mixer. Spread the dough evenly on a greased baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) top/bottom heat or 180°C (350°F) fan-assisted. Thinly slice the onions and halve them. Then sauté them with butter or margarine. Spread the smoked pork and onions on the pre-baked base. Beat the eggs with a mixer until frothy, then fold in the sour cream, crème fraîche and grated Gouda cheese. Spread the mixture over the onions and smoked pork and bake at 200°C (400°F) top/bottom heat or 180°C (350°F) fan-assisted until golden brown.
