Orange Compote with Vanilla Ice Cream

The perfect orange compote with vanilla ice cream recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 4 Oranges
  • 1 Cinnamon stick
  • 1 Star anise
  • 1 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 1 tsp Food starch
  • 2 tbsp Orange liqueur
  • 2 Bullets Bourbon vanilla ice cream
  • 1 tbsp Chocolate flakes for sprinkling
  • Some amarettini
  1. Squeeze the juice out of an orange and put it in a saucepan. Peel the remaining oranges so that the white skin is removed and cut out the fillets with a sharp knife, catching the juice and adding it to the saucepan. Set the fillets aside.
  2. Add the cinnamon stick and star anise with brown sugar to the orange juice and bring to the boil. Mix the cornstarch with a little water, add to the juice and simmer for about 1 minute. Set aside and add the orange fillets. When the juice has cooled down, add the orange liqueur, mix carefully and refrigerate.
  3. Distribute the orange compote on dessert bowls, pour 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream on each and sprinkle with chocolate flakes.
  4. If you like, you can sprinkle some crumbled amarettini on top.
