Ingredients for 15 servings:
- 1 bag/s party rolls, small
- 1 jar red pesto
- 4 tbsp tomatoes, pureed, approx.
- 1 tbsp oregano, dried
- 2 balls of mozzarella
- 1 small piece(s) of Gouda
- 1 pack of Parma ham or Serrano ham
- arugula
- some Parmesan
- salt and pepper
- some olive oil
- Balsamic cream, optional
Instructions
Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes
Cut the party rolls in half and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Mix the pesto with the passata, a little olive oil, and the dried oregano. Add a little more salt if desired, but the pesto is usually already well-salted. Place 1 teaspoon onto each roll half and spread evenly. Grate the mozzarella and Gouda cheese and spread them over the rolls. Place the rolls in the oven at 200°C (convection oven) for about 8-10 minutes. Spread the ham on the rolls while they are still warm. Secure the arugula to the rolls with toothpicks and finish with a little Parmesan cheese. If you like, you can drizzle some crema or balsamic vinegar over the rolls. It looks nice and rounds out the flavor, but it’s not absolutely necessary.
