Pickled herring with tomato

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 6 fish fillets (matjes fillets)
  • 5 small onions, red
  • 15 stuffed olives
  • 250 g tomato ketchup
  • 4 tbsp vinegar
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp white pepper
  • 5 tbsp oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest period approx. 1 day; Total time approx. 1 day 20 minutes

Tomato herring

Drain the herring and cut into small pieces. Peel the onions and slice them into rings. Place the herring, onions, and olives in a container. Mix together the ketchup, vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper. Slowly add the oil and stir well. Pour the marinade over the herring and let it marinate in the refrigerator for a few hours.
