Pickled red onions

Ingredients for 15 servings:

  • 10 large onions, red
  • 200 ml white wine vinegar
  • 200 ml water
  • 200 g sugar
  • ½ organic lime(s)

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Peel the red onions. Halve the onions and slice them lengthwise into strips. Heat the vinegar and water in a saucepan. Add the sugar and bring to a boil. Slice half a lime. Add the onions to the water and vinegar mixture. Add the lime slices and bring to a boil. Remove the onions and limes from the liquid and place them in a preserving jar. Pour the hot liquid over them and seal tightly. Let cool and store in a cool place. This will keep for several weeks.
