Pickled red onions

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 2 large onions, red
  • 150 ml white wine vinegar
  • 100 ml water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest period approx. 2 days; Cooking/baking time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 2 days 25 minutes

Slice the onions into not-too-thick rings. Meanwhile, bring the other ingredients to a boil until the salt and sugar have dissolved. Layer the onion slices in a hot, rinsed glass jar and pour the hot liquid over them. The onions must be completely covered. Cool and let it marinate for two days. They go well with everything: as a salad topping, in a pastrami sandwich, or simply eaten as is.
