Burnet as a kitchen and medicinal herb

Some kitchen herbs are also used as medicinal herbs. Pimpinella is definitely one of them with its different modes of action.

  • The burnet, which belongs to the rose family, is used in the kitchen particularly for salads or sauces because of its spiciness. It is considered very healthy because of its good ingredients.
  • Its leaves contain valuable minerals, vitamins, and, above all, tannins. The latter are often less found in conventional foods. This is what makes the burnet so attractive as a herb.
  • Their tannins also make the burnet interesting for naturopathy. These bitter substances, among other things, it has a draining, antispasmodic and digestive effect.

Pimpinella for skin and stomach

The burnet shows its full range of effects, especially in diseases that are associated with cramps and inflammation.

  • Prepared as a tea, the burnet works on all forms of gastrointestinal complaints. Inflammation of the gastric mucosa, diarrhea, or constipation – the bitter substances effectively relieve symptoms. For tea, put 4-5 teaspoons of dried leaves in a mug and fill them with boiling water. It should then steep for at least 6 – 10 minutes before it can be sipped.
  • The prepared tea is drunk before meals. It also helps with spring tiredness and, thanks to its diuretic effect, with bladder stones or bladder infections.
  • Pimpinella primarily has an anti-inflammatory effect on the skin. After a mild to severe sunburn, poultices can be made with Pimpinella.
  • To do this, also boil the tea described and dab it carefully several times a day with a soft cotton cloth on the inflamed, reddened areas.
  • In natural cosmetics, the plant has a toning and anti-inflammatory effect.
