Ingredients for 10 servings:

  • 200 g butter
  • 125 g flour (wheat flour)
  • 100 ml water, cold
  • 1 tsp vinegar (wine vinegar)
  • 1 egg(s)
  • Plum jam, sweet

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes

Joulutortut

Put all ingredients in a bowl. (The butter must be softened). Quickly knead into a dough by hand, without kneading too vigorously. Let the dough set in a cool place. Roll out on a floured baking sheet. Fold in half several times and roll out again. Treat like puff pastry. Roll out to a thickness of 0.5 cm. Cut out 7×7 cm squares. Cut into the corners of each square. Place a little plum jam in the center. Fold every other corner towards the center to form a star. Brush with beaten egg. Bake at 250°C until light brown. For plum turnovers, cut out round cookies, fill them, fold one half over and press down. Brush with egg and bake as above.
