Ingredients for 8 servings:

  • 500 g poppy seeds, ground
  • 150 g sugar
  • 10 rolls, from the previous day
  • 200 g raisins
  • 1 liter of milk
  • 4 cl cognac
  • 1 lemon(s), zest

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Rest time approx. 10 hours; Total time approx. 10 hours 25 minutes

Slice the rolls. Bring the milk to a boil and add the ground poppy seeds. Stir constantly and add the sugar, lemon zest, raisins, and cognac. Cook until a thick paste forms. In a large glass bowl, place a layer of rolls, then some poppy seed mixture. Then more rolls, poppy seeds, and so on. Finish with the poppy seeds. Cover with cling film and refrigerate overnight. Delicious with coffee or tea, or as a dessert.
