Potato and Herringbone Salad

The perfect potato and herringbone salad recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 600 g Waxy potatoes
  • 400 g Boiled beetroot
  • 1 Onion
  • 1 acidic Apple
  • 50 g Walnuts
  • 6 Herring fillets
  • 100 g Sour cream
  • 50 g Natural yoghurt
  • 2 tbsp Chopped parsley
  • 1 Splash Freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 pinch Sugar
  • Salt pepper
  1. Potatoes, wash and cook, then drain off and allow to evaporate.
  2. Cut beetroot and potatoes into bite-sized cubes and place in a bowl.
  3. Peel and finely dice the onion. Peel the apples, remove the core and also cut into small cubes, roughly chop the walnuts, pat dry herring and cut into strips … put all the ingredients in the salad bowl.
  4. Mix the sour cream, yoghurt and 1-2 tablespoons of water. Add parsley and lemon juice and season with salt and pepper. Pour the sauce over the salad ingredients and stir in. Let the salad steep for 15 minutes, season again to taste and serve.
