Ingredients for 2 servings:
- 6 large potatoes (waxy)
- 1 kohlrabi, with green
- 70 g cheese (Gouda), grated
- 1 crème fraîche with herbs
- 200 ml milk
- butter
- salt and pepper

This amount is intended for a small oven with an interior shelf measuring 33 x 27 cm. Separate the kohlrabi leaves and set aside. Peel and quarter the kohlrabi. Peel the potatoes and slice them thinly along with the kohlrabi pieces. Grease the glass oven shelf with butter, then layer the potato and kohlrabi slices alternately in rows. Whisk the crème fraîche and milk, pour over the dish, and scatter butter flakes on the dish. Season with salt and pepper. Place on the first rack of a cold oven. Set the grill to level 1 and switch on the microwave to 600 watts. After 15 minutes, sprinkle the grated cheese over the gratin and bake for another 15 minutes. In the meantime, wash the kohlrabi leaves, dry them, remove the stalks, and finely chop the leaves. Spread over the finished gratin. This makes a delicious side dish to white meat and fish.
