Potato gratin with cheese

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg potatoes
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 pinch(s) of pepper
  • 150 g processed cheese
  • ¼ liter cream
  • ⅛ liter milk
  • 1 pinch of nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 100 g grated cheese (Gouda or Emmental)
  • 1 tbsp parsley, chopped

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 20 minutes

Peel the potatoes and cut into thin slices. Grease a baking dish and arrange the slices in a flake-like pattern. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Mix the cream cheese with the milk and cream. Season with a pinch of salt and nutmeg. Pour over the potatoes. Place butter flakes on top and sprinkle with grated cheese. Cover with aluminum foil and bake in a preheated oven at 220°C (top/bottom heat) for about 60 minutes. Remove the foil shortly before the end of cooking and let the gratin brown. Serve sprinkled with parsley. If you like, you can also add chopped garlic to the gratin.
