Prawn and Coconut Curry (Prawn Malaikari)
The perfect prawn and coconut curry (prawn malaikari) recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 500 g Shrimp or shrimp peeled deveined
- 450 ml Unsweetened coconut milk
- 1 Pc. Onion, large, mashed
- 1 Pc. Indian bay leaf
- 1 tsp Ginger powder
- 2 tsp Salt
- 0,5 tsp Chilli powder
- 1 Teaspoon (level) Garam masala
- 2 tsp Tomato paste
- 2 tsp Oil
- 1 tsp Sugar
- 1 tsp Water
- 1 tsp Turmeric
- First mix the prawns with about two pinches of salt and the turmeric and fry in oil until they are almost cooked. Put the prawns aside.
- Then fry the bay leaves in the same oil.
- Add the onions and fry for about two minutes.
- All other ingredients, except for the water, stir well and let simmer for about 5 minutes.
- If the sauce gets too thick, then dilute with the water as desired.
- Rice goes very well as a side dish.
