Fries without a deep fryer from the microwave
This microwave variant is suitable for anyone who has little time or desire to peel potatoes.
- Take frozen fries, which you first defrost in the microwave.
- Then it goes into the pan, in which you brown the potato pieces with a little oil – similar to fried potatoes.
- Finally, degrease the fries on kitchen paper and finally season with salt and spices to taste.
- Your advantages: The meal is quick and is a good solution, above all, for single portions. You have no excess fat to save.
Potato wedges from the oven
Another variant is potato sticks prepared in the oven. If you use fresh potatoes for the preparation, these taste delicious as a side dish, even if they are less crispy than fried fries.
- You can use the potatoes unpeeled or peeled. Clean, wash, and cut into even pieces. Pre-cook the pieces in boiling water.
- The potato pieces are greased with a few tablespoons of high-heat vegetable oil. Then bake the potato sticks in a hot oven at about 170 degrees Celsius for about 30 minutes.
- Then salt or season the fries with a paprika-salt mixture, for example. Rosemary, oregano, and marjoram are also delicious as a Mediterranean variant.
- Your advantages: The fries absorb less fat than when deep-fried. Cut large chunks of potato and cook at low temperatures until lightly browned. This reduces the acrylamide content.
