Preserving: Red Cabbage

The perfect preserving: red cabbage recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 0,25 head Fresh red cabbage
  • 1 Teaspoon (level) Coarse salt
  • 1 pinch Black pepper from the mill
  • 0,5 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 piece Diced onion
  • 2 tablespoon Old masters – vinegar
  • 1 liter Boiling water
  1. Cut the stalk from the cabbage. Finely chop the cabbage with a slicer.
  2. Now add the spices, vinegar & onion to the cabbage, mix and fill into preserving jars.
  3. Pour in the boiled water after it has cooled down.

boil down:

  1. Boil in the oven (water in the tub) at 90 ° C for about 30 minutes.

Consume leftovers:

  1. We had red cabbage and roulades yesterday, now there are leftovers to use and they are boiled down.
