Prevent Split Ends: Here’s How

Brittle, split ends ruin even the prettiest hairstyle. But don’t worry: there are some things you can do to effectively prevent split ends. We give you simple tips for every day!

How does split ends actually occur?

The ends are the oldest part of your hair. With a shoulder-length mane, they are actually about three years old. During this time, the fibers were exposed to damaging UV rays and salt water, were dyed, blow-dried and straightened, and regularly rubbed against your clothes. As you can see, your tips have seen a lot. It is not surprising that after a while the hair suffers. This hardship is reflected in split, weak ends: the split ends.

Preventing split ends in the hair: How to avoid the beauty blemish

Only optimally nourished hair can withstand daily stress without splitting. So pamper your mane regularly, especially if you tend to have dry hair. It shatters faster. So use special anti-split shampoos regularly. This rich hair care provides the fibers with an extra portion of care substances and makes them more resistant.

Important: When washing, only massage the shampoo into the roots. The product dissolves valuable fats from the fibers. An effect that makes sense on the oily roots, but only leaches out stressed ends even more.

Also, always remember to use the conditioner when you wash your clothes every day! This product closes the hair cuticle layer that has been roughened by the shampoo. So the fibers are sealed and stronger.

You can also opt for a nourishing repair treatment once or twice a week. Such a product is enriched with nourishing, vegetable oils. Alternatively, simply massage a high-quality natural oil into your tips.

Also useful: Use a brush with natural bristles for split ends. This tool detangles your hair more gently.

And how do you treat existing split ends?

Even precious argan oil can no longer repair split ends. The only thing that really helps here is going to the hairdresser. Trimming or cutting split ends solves the problem immediately and prevents the damage from spreading further towards the roots.

If you tend to have split ends, regularly removing split ends with scissors is a must. But don’t worry, one centimeter in length every eight weeks is enough. This is how you patch up the beauty blemish and still enjoy a long head of hair.
