Red Cabbage
The perfect red cabbage recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 1 small head Red cabbage fresh
- 2 Pc. Bay leaves
- 2 Pc. Cloves
- 0,25 Pc. Cinnamon stick
- 0,5 teaspoon Sugar
- 0,25 l Red wine
- 100 ml Red wine vinegar
- 2 Pc. Onions
- Salt pepper
- Currant jelly
- Remove the red cabbage from the outer leaves, quarter and slice into fine strips. Pour the spices into a tea infuser. Peel the onions, cut in half and cut into fine strips. Put everything together in a bowl and knead well, pressing down the cabbage well. Mix in the wine, vinegar, salt and pepper and let it steep for 1 hour. Place the tea infuser under the cabbage.
- When the cabbage is pulled through, everything is put in a saucepan and simmered for about 1 hour at mid-hour. Possibly add a little water so that the herb does not stick. After the hour, season the cabbage to taste and add more or less currant jelly, depending on your taste.
- My husband doesn’t like the herb that sweet, so I’m careful with the dosage …. start with 1 tbsp and feel it up.
