Apple Pie with Butter Crumble

The perfect apple pie with butter crumble recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

Dough:

  • 20 g Yeast fresh
  • 200 ml Milk lukewarm
  • 400 g Flour type 550
  • 150 g Sugar
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 Egg size L.
  • 50 g Liquid butter

Apple filling:

  • 7 medium sized Apples
  • 2 tbsp Lemon juice
  • 4 tbsp Rum
  • 3 tbsp Sugar brown
  • 1 tsp struck Cinnamon
  • 80 g Raisins
  • 4 tbsp Liquid butter

Streusel:

  • 150 g Flour
  • 200 g Sugar
  • 150 g Soft butter
  • 0,5 tube Butter-Vanilla flavor

Preparation:

  1. The amount of ingredients is enough for a smaller tray (approx. 30 x 22 cm), or about 3/4 of a normal one, and this results in about 24 servings. Lightly grease the tray beforehand and line it with baking paper. Only switch on the lighting in the oven (sufficient as a heat source for the yeast dough).

Dough:

  1. Crumble the yeast into the lukewarm milk and dissolve while stirring. Put flour, sugar and salt in a large bowl, mix well, make a deep well in the middle, pour in the yeast milk and mix it with a little flour from the edge. Close the bowl, place it in the lighted oven and let the yeast mixture rise for 10 minutes. Then knead everything together with the egg with the dough hook of the hand mixer. When the dough is smooth, pour in the melted butter and carefully knead in. The dough has to be quite soft, shiny and smooth at the end. Then close the bowl again and let the dough rest in the lighted oven for 30-40 minutes.

Apples:

  1. While the dough is resting, peel and core the apples, cut into approx. 1.5 cm pieces and mix in a bowl with the lemon juice, rum, sugar, cinnamon, melted butter and the raisins.

Streusel:

  1. Put all the ingredients in a bowl and use the hand mixer paddle to make a crumbly mixture. Even if it seems very fine and crumbly at first, you can later knead the crumbs into thick crumbles by hand before sprinkling them and then distribute them over the apples.

Completion:

  1. Preheat the oven to 175 ° O / bottom heat. Put the very soft, sticky dough on the prepared tray and spread it with a tablespoon dipped repeatedly in cold water and smooth it out slightly. But it doesn’t have to be extremely smooth. Then distribute the apples on top and – as already mentioned – pour the sprinkles over them.
  2. The baking time on the 2nd rack from the bottom is 40 – 50 minutes. The crumble should be crispy but not too dark. A wooden stick sample is not appropriate as the apple filling is very moist. But if you want to be sure whether the dough is baked through, carefully lift the dough with a knife at one point on the edge. When the bottom is golden brown, the cake is ready and can – after cooling – be served immediately. It can be frozen well, baked again very briefly and not too hot and then tastes like freshly baked.
