Rice casserole

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 200 g basmati
  • salt water
  • 1 can peas
  • 250 ml tomato sauce
  • 150 g cheese (e.g. Emmental), grated
  • salt and pepper
  • Garlic
  • basil

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Cook the rice in salted water according to the package instructions. Combine the tomato sauce (we had leftovers from the day before) and the drained peas. Heat through and season to taste. Pour the rice and tomato sauce into a casserole dish with the peas and mix well. Sprinkle with cheese and bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (top/bottom heat) for 15-20 minutes, depending on the desired degree of browning or firmness of the cheese.
