Roasted Brussels sprouts

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 750 g Brussels sprouts, or more
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1 medium-sized onion(s), diced
  • 30 g diced ham, raw
  • 3 tsp sugar
  • Salt and pepper, black
  • nutmeg

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

Cook the Brussels sprouts in salted water for about 10 to 12 minutes until al dente, then drain in a colander. The sprouts will continue to cook during frying, so don’t let them get too soft. Melt about 2 tablespoons of butter in a non-stick pan and fry the sprouts, turning occasionally, until lightly browned. Then add the onions and ham and fry. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg, turning frequently. When everything is nicely browned, add another tablespoon of butter and sprinkle the sprouts with sugar. Turn again so the sugar can caramelize slightly in the heat.
