Melt the butter on low heat in a microwave or saucepan. Finely crumble the onions using a food processor or a meat tenderizer in a freezer bag. Combine all ingredients in a dough and let it rest for half an hour. Form it into small dumplings. Let it rest in the gently simmering soup for about 10 minutes. The dumplings can also be frozen in advance; to do this, place them on a plate and freeze briefly to retain their shape. Then freeze in a standard freezer bag.
