Ingredients
 

  • 100 g Syrian hyssop dried
  • 100 g Heady thyme
  • Alternatively oregano + thyme
  • 1,5 tsp Sumac
  • 1 tsp Fennel seed
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 50 g Toasted sesame seeds

Instructions
 

  • syr. hyssop grows in israel and sinai. in germany it is available in health food stores. alternatively oregano. As a spice mixture, saatar is ideal for gratinating v. flatbread. the jewish bagels (bagels are by no means American, they are originally called bejgalach and came to the usa with the jews. saatar is a great topping for hummus, dips, spreads, sheep's cheese or labane. this spice mixture is certainly older than the bible and the entire levante is still highly valued today.
  • Chop up the spices and mix well. leave some consistency - no powder should be used. Roast the sesame seeds in a pan without oil until golden, add and mix well again. finished!
  • Saatar cannot be used as a spice for cooking. as this would make it bitter and lose its taste. it is ideal for salads and as a topping for baked goods. bteavon - enjoy your meal.
