Salsa – quick and spicy sauce

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 onion(s)
  • 1 chili pepper(s), dried, depending on the degree of spiciness
  • olive oil
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 can of tomatoes, diced
  • 4 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 3 tbsp tomato paste
  • Parsley
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

as a dip, topping or whatever…

Finely chop the onion and chili pepper and sauté in plenty of olive oil. Once the onions have a nice brown color, add the brown sugar and stir. Deglaze the dish with the diced tomatoes and let it reduce slightly. After 5 minutes, stir in the ketchup and tomato paste and season with parsley, salt, and pepper. This sauce came to me one evening, off the top of my head—so it’s not exactly an original salsa. It goes wonderfully with grilled food, on hamburgers, or simply as a dip.
