Sauerkraut casserole

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg potatoes, diced
  • 500 g sauerkraut
  • 1 onion(s), diced
  • 1 large apple, coarsely grated
  • 500 g smoked pork, boneless, diced
  • 200 g crème fraîche
  • 150 g cheese (Emmental), grated
  • Salt
  • pepper
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Boil the potatoes in a little salted water and mash them with the water. Stir in the crème fraîche and Emmental cheese and season. Sauté the onion in the butter, add the sauerkraut and apple, and simmer for about 15 minutes. Grease a casserole dish and pour in the sauerkraut first. Place the smoked pork on top and spread the mash over it. Bake for 45 minutes at 200°C (400°F).
