Hearty enjoyment

Peel the potatoes and carrots and cut into pieces. Boil in salted water until tender. Meanwhile, trim, wash, and strip the savoy cabbage. Dice the onions. Heat 1 tablespoon of butter. Fry the diced onions until translucent. Add the cabbage, season with salt and pepper, and simmer for about 5 minutes. Deglaze with stock, cover, and cook for another 8 minutes. Heat the milk. Drain the potatoes and carrots and mash with hot milk. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Dress the savoy cabbage with cream and melt the cheese. Fry the sausages in hot oil for 2-3 minutes, turning occasionally. Place half of the savoy cabbage in a large baking dish. Place the sausages on top, then cover with the remaining savoy cabbage. Spread the mash on top. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (fan oven) for 35-40 minutes. In the meantime, slice the onions into rings. Brown in 1 tablespoon of hot butter. After about 20 minutes of baking, scatter the onions over the casserole. Serve garnished with chives.
