Side Dishes: Bread Dumplings
The perfect side dishes: bread dumplings recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 250 g Stale rolls or ready-made white bread cubes
- 0,25 l Warm milk
- 2 Eggs
- Salt, pepper, nutmeg
- 1 Onion
- Fresh chopped parsley
- Cut the rolls into fine cubes and put them in a bowl. Pour the milk over the bread cubes, mix briefly and leave to swell for 10 minutes. In the meantime, fry the finely diced onion in a little butter, add the parsley, stir briefly.
- Add the onion mixture, eggs and spices to the bread mixture and knead. The result must be a dough that is easy to shape. If it is too soft, knead in the breadcrumbs. Bring the salted water to the boil, form the dumplings (with wet hands), add them to the water and let them steep for 20 minutes over a low heat.
- Remove from the water with a slotted spoon, drain briefly and serve with side dishes according to taste. I had roulades (see my KB) and beans with it. Leftover dumplings, fried in slices, are another delicious meal.
