Ingredients for 8 servings:

  • 150 g bacon (smoked belly bacon), finely diced
  • 750 g pork, diced
  • 750 g beef, diced
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 1 tsp caraway seeds, whole
  • 2 tsp marjoram, dried
  • 2 large bay leaves
  • 1 tbsp paprika powder, sweet
  • 3 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 small head of white cabbage, sliced
  • ½ can sauerkraut
  • 1 apple, sour, peeled, cut into small pieces
  • 400 g sausage (smoked Mettwurst), sliced
  • salt and pepper
  • oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

This stew tastes even better every time you reheat it!

Heat oil in a large pot. Fry the bacon, add the onions, and cook until translucent, then add the meat and brown. Add the spices and simmer briefly. Pour in water and simmer for about 1 1/2 hours. Then add the white cabbage, sauerkraut, and apple. Simmer for about another 45 minutes. Add the sausages and season with salt.
