for cutting out and giving away

Preheat oven to 175 degrees top and bottom heat. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Slowly add molasses or honey. Mix dry ingredients and add in thirds. Roll the dough into a ball on a floured work surface and chill for 1-2 hours in the refrigerator or on a wintry windowsill. Then roll out on a floured work surface, cut out shapes and place on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. If the dough is already at room temperature, refrigerate briefly, otherwise it will not hold its shape. Decorate with nuts and dried fruit, such as almonds, hazelnuts, raisins, if desired. Then bake for 8 minutes for chewy cookies or 10 minutes for crispy cookies. Let cool on a wire rack and you’re done.
