Solyanka with peppers according to grandma's recipe

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 200g salami
  • 200 g sausage (hunting sausage)
  • 200 g meat sausage
  • 200 g bacon
  • 3 onions
  • 3 bell peppers
  • 150 g tomato paste
  • 5 gherkins
  • some cucumber juice
  • 2 grains allspice
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 tsp mustard
  • 1 liter of broth
  • Paprika powder
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes

Fry the diced bacon and the sausage. If it starts to stick, add water. Briefly fry the diced salami. Add the diced onions, cucumbers, and bell peppers and fry until the onions are translucent. Add the tomato paste and a little of the cucumber juice, then pour in the broth. Season with pepper, salt, and paprika. Add the allspice berries, bay leaves, and mustard and stir. Cook everything for 20-30 minutes, then let it steep. Bring back to a boil before serving. If you’re eating it right away, I recommend a longer cooking time. We serve it with crème fraîche and baguette. To make double the amount, simply dilute the solyanka with broth and tomato paste.
