Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 1 liter of water
- 500 g minced meat, mixed
- 2 bay leaves
- 3 juniper berries
- 2 slices of lemon
- 1 onion(s)
- 1 tbsp meat broth powder
- some salt and pepper, black, from the mill
- 1 tbsp flour
Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 55 minutes
Bring the water to a boil. Meanwhile, finely chop the onion. Once the water is boiling, add some salt, pepper, onions, meat broth powder, juniper berries, bay leaves, and lemon slices and let everything simmer. Crumble the minced meat into small pieces with your hands and simmer for another 10-15 minutes. Finally, season the hash with salt, pepper, and lemon juice to taste and thicken with a little flour mixed with water. Homemade mashed potatoes go best with it. If you have leftovers, crumble in some bread. Note: This recipe comes from my grandmother and is from the Upper Franconian kitchen. My children would have loved to have this on the table every two weeks.
