Bavarian specialty

Sauté the two finely chopped onions in butter until translucent. Add flour to the butter/onion mixture and pour in the broth—careful to avoid lumps—then pour in the milk. Wash, peel, and slice the potatoes and carrots, then add them. Simmer over low heat with the lid on for about an hour, stirring occasionally. Season at the end with vinegar, salt, pepper, paprika, nutmeg, and possibly caraway or finely chopped garlic. You can also use more potatoes or carrots, depending on your taste. Serve with meatballs (meatballs) and a green salad.
