Ingredients for 8 servings:
- 5 rolls, stale
- 200 ml milk, lukewarm
- 2 eggs
- 80 g bacon
- 1 onion(s)
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp parsley, finely chopped
- salt and pepper
- possibly breadcrumbs
- nutmeg
Instructions
Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes
Cut the rolls into small cubes and place in a bowl. Mix the milk and eggs and pour over the bread. Cover and let stand for about 30 minutes. Cut the bacon into small cubes. Peel and finely chop the onion. Heat the butter in a pan. Fry the bacon for about 5 minutes until crispy. Add the onion and sauté for about 3 minutes. Then stir in the parsley. Knead the bacon and onion mixture into the bread mixture. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Heat plenty of salted water in a large pot. Form the mixture into dumplings and let them simmer over low heat for 15-20 minutes until cooked through.
