Spaghetti with tomato sauce alla napoletana

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 large onion(s)
  • 1 bunch of parsley
  • 3 sprigs of basil
  • 1 small can of tomatoes
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt
  • 1 pepperoncini
  • 400g spaghetti
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Parmesan, grated
  • white bread
  • Garlic

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

Peel the onion and thinly slice. Finely chop the parsley. Roughly chop the basil. Crush the tomatoes with a fork. Heat the oil, fry the onions gently, add the herbs and tomatoes with their juice, season with salt, and add the chili pepper. Cover and simmer over very low heat until thickened. Remove the chili pepper before serving. Cook the spaghetti al dente, drain, and serve hot with the tomato sauce. Serve with grated Parmesan and slices of white bread (toasted and sprinkled with garlic, if you like).
