Spare ribs with maple syrup glaze

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 medium-sized onion(s), finely chopped
  • 2 medium-sized tomatoes, diced
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tsp chili sauce, hot
  • 1 ½ kg spare ribs from pork, cut between the bones
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 4 hours; Total time approx. 4 hours 15 minutes

In a large bowl, combine the onion, tomatoes, maple syrup, soy sauce, and chili sauce, and season with salt and pepper. Toss the ribs in the liquid until completely coated. Transfer the meat and the liquid to the crockpot and cook on high for about 4 hours. Turn halfway through the cooking time if possible. Serve the ribs with the pan juices and your choice of side dishes.
