This quick sponge cake recipe is always a success and can be easily refined with your ingredients to taste.
Basic sponge cake recipe: You need this
You probably have most of the ingredients for a sponge cake at home, it only takes 15 minutes to prepare and the oven does the rest. You need these ingredients:
- 200 grams of softened butter
- 150 grams of sugar
- 1 packet of vanilla sugar
- A pinch of salt
- 4 eggs
- 400 grams of flour
- 1 packet of baking powder
- 150 milliliters of milk
- Some powdered sugar to sprinkle on top
- You can also refine your cake with your ingredients according to taste, for example with cherries, raisins, or chocolate.
How to prepare the sponge cake
You will need a hand mixer and a Gugelhupf or loaf pan for the preparation.
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
- Cream the butter with vanilla sugar, sugar, and salt.
- Then stir in the eggs one at a time.
- Mix the flour with the baking powder and stir it into the butter-egg mixture alternately with the milk.
- The dough is then poured into the greased form and, depending on the type of oven, baked for about an hour.
- Let the cake cool for 10 minutes before turning it out. Finally, sprinkle it with powdered sugar.
