Sterz alla Uri

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g flour
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • ½ liter of water
  • 1 cup oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 can peas

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Heat the flour in a large pot with a pinch of salt. Pour over about half a liter of boiling water and stir vigorously. Be careful, as the mixture tends to stick to the bottom. Heat the oil and pour over the flour. Add salt and continue stirring vigorously. It should form crumbs; if necessary, break up the mixture with a knife every now and then. Finally, stir in the peas (you can omit them if you don’t like them). Dip the šterz into a slightly sweet tomato soup. Our Uri brought the šterz back from Hungary and gave it to me.
