Strawberry barbecue sauce

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 can tomato(s), chunky, 400 g
  • 1 onion(s), approx. 100 g
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 100 g sugar
  • 60 ml vinegar
  • 50 g tomato paste
  • 2 tsp paprika powder
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 500 g strawberries

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes

Peel and dice the onion and garlic. Heat the oil in a saucepan, add the onion and garlic, and simmer for five minutes, stirring occasionally. Add 80g of the sugar and let it caramelize. Deglaze with vinegar. Add the can of tomatoes, tomato paste, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, and paprika, and let it simmer for 25 minutes. Meanwhile, dice the strawberries and add them for the last 10 minutes along with 20g of sugar and 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, and cook. The sauce goes well with burgers, meatballs, (tofu) sausages, and various other grilled foods.
