Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 150 g butter or margarine
  • 3 eggs
  • 150 g bacon, diced
  • 150 g grated cheese (fat cheese)
  • 500 g sauerkraut
  • 300 g bread roll(s), diced
  • Salt
  • nutmeg
  • salt water
  • n. B. Butter, browned for basting

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Knead the bread cubes with eggs, butter, and seasonings until a dough is smooth. Then stir in the sauerkraut, grated cheese, and bacon bits. Shape the mixture into a dumpling, place it in a napkin, and boil gently in salted water for 25 minutes. Drizzle brown butter over the finished dumpling. It serves as a delicious side dish with tomato or green bean salad.
