Ingredients for 2 servings:
- 400 ml water
- 200 g sugar
- 4 figs, dried
- 100 g margarine
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tsp, heaped turmeric powder
- ½ tsp cardamom powder
- ½ tsp cinnamon powder
- 200 g wheat flour
Instructions
Working time approx. 25 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes
Bring the water to a boil in a saucepan and add the sugar. Stir until the sugar has dissolved. Reduce the heat so that the water is still simmering. In the meantime, cut the figs into small pieces. Melt the margarine in a large saucepan and sauté the fig pieces for about 2 minutes. Add the oil and spices and mix everything well. Now add the flour and mix continuously. Briefly remove the pan from the heat. Then, when the flour is well mixed with the other ingredients and is no longer coarse and crumbly, return the pan to the heat. Reduce the heat and add a little of the hot sugar water to the mixture. Caution: The mixture will steam profusely each time. Mix everything well. Once the sugar water is well mixed with the flour mixture, repeat the process until all the sugar water is used up. Use an ice cream scoop to form small balls of the mixture onto plates and serve. The sun balls taste good warm or cold.
