Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 200 g margarine
  • 200 g sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 lemon(s), zest
  • 1 orange(s), zest
  • 2 tbsp gingerbread spice
  • 500 g flour
  • 100 g powdered sugar
  • 2 ½ tbsp water
  • 4 drops of orange food coloring (maybe a little more or less)
  • Orange(s) in slices, candied or candied orange peel

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Cooking/baking time approx. 12 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 42 minutes

Christmas cookies

Beat the margarine until fluffy. Add the sugar and stir until dissolved. Add the eggs, fruit peel, and seasoning and mix well. Add the flour and knead everything into a firm dough. Chill for 1 hour. Roll out the dough to a thickness of about 7 mm. Cut out circles with a diameter of about 8 cm and quarter them. Place on a prepared baking sheet. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (top/bottom heat) for about 12 minutes. Let cool. Mix the powdered sugar, water, and coloring to make a glaze. Dip the cookie surfaces in the glaze. Immediately garnish with candied fruit pieces. Let dry on baking paper.
