Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 kg flour
  • 1 bag(s) of dry yeast
  • 150 g sugar
  • ½ liter milk, 1.5% fat
  • 1 egg(s)
  • ½ tsp lemon juice
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tbsp almond flakes

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 20 minutes

Mix the flour, sugar, and dry yeast thoroughly. Add the milk, egg, and lemon juice. Knead everything for about 10 minutes by hand or with the dough hook on a stand mixer to ensure plenty of air is incorporated into the dough. Cover the dough and let it rise for 1 1/2 hours in a warm, draft-free place. Then knead the dough again thoroughly. Divide the dough into 3 pieces, roll them into strands, and braid them. Let it rise on the baking sheet for another 10 minutes. Brush the yeast plait thinly with egg yolk, sprinkle with the flaked almonds, and bake at 170°C for about 40 minutes.
